EBRU Art
"DANCE OF WATER AND COLOURS"
Ebru is the art of drawing water, such drawings made on paper are implemented. It is a traditional Turkish art. Chaining penetration and color, without them interfering with each other, that can easily distinguish all colors, shapes and patterns obtained on the water, called Ebru. Like art, consists in spreading Ebru water surface of the liquid paint and carrying out different forms, shapes and patterns which, in turn, are translated directly from the water on paper.
Dominant trait that characterizes the art of Ebru, is that part of the Ottoman traditional arts textbooks. Ebru is known about it for the first time appeared in the city Bukhara in Turkistan, later spreading to the whole Ottoman Empire. Ebru is also known as "Turkish leaf. In the past, Ebru was useful for many works of ancient beauty. Paintings made today by Ebru art are often framed and used to decorate the walls of rooms. Materials necessary for EBRU:
- water
- paint earth
- turpentine

Before beginning Ebru, metal tray filled with the mixture of water and gum arabic. Ebru tray will be a regular pan, aluminum, similar to those used for baklava. In about two liters of water put 2 tablespoons full of plants serum, the mixture thus obtained providing water thickening. Resulting liquid is cleaned of impurities by sieving.
For EBRU art, paint is used for ground.
The colors, different shades, are ground, preferably on a piece of tile and ceramics. Add the serum of plants and very little water. The composition is left to soak for a period between 15 and 30 days. Before being used, the paint must be sprayed with ground water. To obtain lighter shades will add a larger amount of water.
Ebru design is unique and can not be restored.
